Cancer, the Crab
Cancer, well known as one of the twelve zodiac
constellations, is the 31st largest in the sky with an
area of 506 square degrees. Cancer also contains many
famous deep-sky objects: Praesepe, Messier 67, NGC
2535, and NCG 2536. In Greek mythology, Cancer found
its place in the stars when it attempts to distract
Hercules from the Hydra, and he was kicked into the
sky as a result.
This constellation contains ten total named stars:
Acubens, Asellus Australis, Asellus Borealis,
Copernicus, Gakyid, Meleph, Nahn, Piautos, Tarf,
and Tegmine.
