Cepheus, the King
Named after the mythical King Cepheus of Aethiopia,
husband of Cassiopeia and father of Andromeda, the Cepheus
constellation belongs to the Perseus family in the
Northern hemisphere. In Greek mythology, Zeus placed
Cepheus among the stars after his tragic death due to his
lineage as he was a descendant of one of Zeus’s previous
loves.
The constellation contains four formally named stars:
Alderamin, Alfirk, Errai, and Kurhah.
