Leo, the Lion
Leo is one of the twelve zodiac constellations and is
often referred to as the main zodiac constellation. This
is due to the fact that it is the oldest constellation
in the sky, a similar constellation seen by the
Mesopotamians. Additionally, in Greek mythology, Leo
represented the beast named the Nemean lion.
As the 12th largest constellation with an area of 945
square degrees, Leo holds many prominent stars within its
constellation. In total, Leo has thirteen named stars:
Adhafera, Algieba, Alterf, Chertan, Denebola, Dingolay,
Formosa, Moriah, Rasalas, Regulus, Sagarmatha, Subra,
and Zosma.
