Polaris, the North Star
Located almost exactly above the North Celestial Pole,
the North Star, Polaris, is famous for holding its place
in the sky while the entire northern sky moves around it.
It is thought to be the brightest star in the sky,
easily found on nights in the Northern Hemisphere;
however, it is only the 50th in brightness among stars.
Additionally, this star holds its place as the end star
on the Little Dipper’s handle, or “Ursa Minor.”
