Taurus, the Bull
Meaning “the bull” in Latin, Taurus is a part of the
twelve zodiac constellations. While this constellation
was first cataloged in the 2nd century, the history
dates back much further. Many cultures symbolized this
group of stars as a bull due to its distinct shape as
two separate horns emerging from the bull’s body.
As the 17th largest constellation in the sky, Taurus
has seventeen officially named stars: Ain, Alcyone,
Aldebaran, Asterope, Atlas, Celaeno, Chamukuy,
Electra, Elnath, Hoggar, Maia, Merope, Pleione, Prima
Hyadum, Secunda Hyadum, Taygeta, and Tianguan.
